| Tonic Designs were asked to build a website for www.equibuy.net that would facilitate the buying and selling of horses. The process was easy enough. Those selling would create accounts and add their information, horse details, description, pictures and video. Those buying would create accounts and contact sellers of horses they were interested in. The complexity arose when developing the alerts facility. Buyers are able to request SMS alrerts, picture alerts and video alerts to their mobile phone, when a horse that matches their criteria is added to the site. With there being numerous combinations of breeds, and a number of different disciplines, this proved a real challenge. An alert service was devised to match a fixed number of criteria, enabling buyers to select their preferred criteria, and receive not just SMS text alerts, but also picture and video alerts direct to their mobile handsets. How do the alerts work?
Users interested in buying a horse from www.equibuy.net, and who's ideal horse is not yet registered on the site, are able to personalise their search and request SMS, picture, video and email alerts when their ideal horse is added to the site. Users are able to select a range of criteria which best describes their ideal horse. They can then choose up to 3 out of 6 of those choices to match to trigger their alerts. They can then choose their alert method, SMS text message, giving them the Ad. reference direct to their mobile phone. Picture message, giving them one of the 4 pictures available direct to their mobile phone. Video alert, sending them one of the two videos uploaded by the advertiser direct to their mobile phone.
