| Planetxposure is the brainchild of David Taylor, MD of one of the top and most respected photo agencies Xposure Photos. Tonic Designs and Xposure Photos had already developed a working relationship, after Tonic Designs had developed the website for www.xposurephotos.com So Tonic Designs were asked to produce a site where visitors could order prints and download images to their mobile devices. www.planetxposure.com allows for site visitors to search for celebrity images by name or category or keyword. When the desired image has been found, the user is then invited to either buy different size prints or downed the image to their mobile device. Downloads are simple and work on a Premium SMS billing mechanism. Visitors to the site simply text the keyword and the image reference number into the shortcode. They then receive back a WAP push message which is billed at £1.50 to their mobile phone. The message will also contain the URL where the customer can collect their image. The resulting WAP site at wap.planetxposure.com allows for browsers to search for images and view by most popular. Staff at Planet Xposure are able to upload images through an administration interface, allowing them to select the category they are uploaded to. One of the challenges we faced was to be able to show the commissions that needed paying to individual photographers based on sales. An extensive administration back office and content management system, was developed, which not only allows Planet Xposure staff to upload images and update the entire website, but also produces sales reports and commission reports on a photographer by photographer basis. |
